Neck Lift
A sagging neck can betray your age, even if your face looks great. A neck lift is the surgical fix for a saggy neck. The procedure sculpts the fat in the neck and tightens the skin, to create a more youthful profile.
A neck lift not only improves sagging skin and eliminates excess fat, but it also addresses the problem of the descending platysma muscles in the neck. Tightening these muscles will give the neck greater definition, and restore youthful contours.
The Procedure
Neck Lift surgery typically involves making very small incisions below the chin and behind the ears, in order to remove fat and tighten the muscles. The skin is then stretched and tightened, and the incisions closed. The incisions are very discrete, and are not easily visible after surgery. Surgery time is 2 to 3 hours.
Recovery
A bandage is usually placed around the neck after surgery, and this is worn for 2 to 3 days. There will be some bruising and swelling, but patients are advised to keep their head elevated for the first few weeks in order to minimize swelling.
Patients are encouraged to move around the following day after surgery. Full recovery takes 2 to 3 weeks, and the initial swelling and bruising should be reduced by this time.
Are you a good candidate?
A neck lift is suitable for clients with loose neck skin and neck lines, who do not require the total facial rejuvenation of facelift surgery. Individuals with a genetic predisposition to having excess fat on the neck are also good candidates for a neck lift.
